ABOUT IZA:

A Lithuanian contemporary circus artist, residing in Munich for the time being.

Touring and teaching across Europe with an idea to reshape audience's perception of circus. Believing in its potential to be bold and evocative. A medium - like any other artform - between an artist and the people. Free in form, thriving across disciplines with no uniform definition - a unique, completely unbound cultural soil.

Over the last years Iza developed a distinctive performance style, combining circus and dance focusing on fluid, fragile and expressive movement. Drawing inspiration from Surrealism and Absurd, pointing out the importance of Experimentation, Relevance and Novelty.

Izabele’s performances have been showcased in a wide array of contexts, including festivals, theaters, local productions, cabarets and corporate events. She is a core member of two contemporary circus collectives: Taigi Cirkas & Art for Rainy Days. In 2024 her work with Elena Kosovec received the CircusNext laureate award.

AERIAL HOOP WORKSHOP 1 : DYNAMICS

We explore the art of dynamic movement on the aerial hoop, combining strength and momentum. Dynamics involve using explosive energy to twist, regrip, and shift positions, it is also a technique that expands your working space around the hoop. his workshop will focus on mastering beats, such as frontal, side, and Jane Fonda beats, along with variations using elbows and armpits, as well as the tricks that flow from them. You’ll also learn different types of kips and regrips, such as kip to back balance and kip to straddle regrip, building both strength and confidence in the process. To ensure a strong foundation, we’ll cover preparatory exercises to teach proper body positioning for beats, as well as conditioning drills both on the floor and in the air. Partner spotting techniques will be introduced, ensuring safety and support during practice. By the end of the session, you will have the knowledge and skills to safely train and refine these dynamic tricks on your own.

AERIAL HOOP WORKSHOP 2 : ROLLS

The aerial hoop offers countless opportunities to incorporate rolling movements, with foundational techniques including lion rolls, elbow rolls, and stomach and waist rolls.

Mastering these rolls opens up endless possibilities for creativity to adapt, modify, and explore different entries and exits. In this workshop, we’ll focus on the necessary exercises to build the strength and flexibility required for rolls, along with spotting techniques to boost confidence and ensure safety. You’ll also learn how to safely "fail" a trick so you can approach practice with minimal risk and maximum confidence. The end goal of this workshop is for the participants to have the tools and knowledge to train these movements independently. For this workshop, protection for elbows, armpits, legs, and waist is highly recommended. While it may feel fine initially, repeated practice can lead to bruising. Long pants and a shirt are enough for leg and waist protection, while a jumper or sweatshirt is ideal for armpits and elbows. A practical alternative for elbows is to cut the ends off long socks and use them as protective sleeves.

AERIAL HOOP WORKSHOP 3 : SPINS & COMBOS

This workshop will focus on mastering the fundamentals of spinning on aerial hoop. You’ll learn proper body positioning, explore various spinning techniques, and discover how to use inertia to make transitions and tricks easier and smoother. Since spinning requires time for the vestibular system to adapt and minimize dizziness, we’ll also practice hoop combinations that can later be enhanced with spinning. We’ll briefly cover heel and ankle hangs, learning conditioning exercises and training methods. The workshop will begin with a thorough warm-up to prepare your body for aerial work, incorporating flexibility exercises to improve mobility, and reduce the risk of injury.

AERIAL SILK WORKSHOP 1 : BASICS, SPINNING TECHNIQUE, FRONT & BACK BALANCE & HANDSTANDS

Front and back balances are aerial-specific skills that provide moments of suspension in the air, offering a fast exit to other dynamic or non-dynamic moves—unlike wrapping skills that involve more sustained holds. All rights reserved In this workshop, you will learn the techniques for achieving front and back balances, along with different approaches to mastering these skills. Key elements include grip positioning and Cshaping for stability and control. You’ll also explore tricks unlocked by these balances, such as the front balance bounce, back-to-front balance transitions, and various dynamic and non-dynamic entrances. The session includes conditioning exercises both on the floor and in the air, progressions adjusted to different skill levels, and partner spotting techniques.

In this workshop, we will focus on aerial skills that require consistent but mindful training. Spinning technique, split balances, and handstands each come with their own unique challenges, and learning to practice them correctly is essential for safety and progression. Spinning demands adjustment of the vestibular system to prevent dizziness, while split balances are active flexibility exercises that require strength and control. Handstands, though rewarding, can place strain on the wrists depending on the variation.

AERIAL SILK WORKSHOP 2 : ROLLS & BEATS

Experience the thrill of mastering beats on the silks—a skill that feels like flying! The goal of beats is to create weightless moments, allowing you to regrip, transition, and explore dynamic movements effortlessly. Beyond their functional purpose, beats are impressive tricks that add dynamic flow and visual contrast to your aerial performance. In this workshop, we’ll dive into the fundamentals of front, back, and amazon beats, along with their variations. You’ll also learn preparatory floor exercises and aerial conditioning techniques to build the strength and control needed for beats.

Learning to roll on a vertical aerial apparatus is a foundational advanced skill that unlocks a wide range of tricks and transitions. From mastering the direct roll-up and its variations to refining the soleil, this workshop focuses on building the strength, balance, and technique needed for fluid and controlled rolls. Key elements of roll-ups include mastering the C-shaping core engagement, balance, and coordinated leg movements. In this workshop, we’ll break down these essentials with preparatory floor exercises, aerial conditioning drills, progressions, and spotting techniques to ensure safe practice.
